Tech Propulsion Labs was founded in 2008 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. We provide services for ventures requiring software development & “intellectual capital.”
We operate with two primary goals:
Provide software development and consulting services for international technology startups, giving them access to high quality, Agile offshore development teams proven in scalable web technologies.
Bring the state of the art in Web technology innovation to Vietnam, and fast track the development of Vietnam’s top local talent.
Our People
TPL was founded by a seasoned international management team with experience in Web development, Internet application architecture, and founding and exiting startups.
Our Managers and Architects focus on recruiting top talent for executing Agile software development processes, and on improving our skills in critical areas such as High Availability internet architecture, Web 2.0 User Interaction Design, seamlessly integrated Web and Mobile design, and cloud computing.
We are strong proponents of Agile software development, and our teams run the complete set of Agile and XP practices including SCRUM, TDD/BDD, Pair Programming, etc. We are well-versed with the pick of the Web (Ruby on Rails, AJAX, PHP, Java) and Mobile (iPhone, Blackberry and Android) technologies and have a mix of startup and large enterprise skill sets.

Intellectual Capital vs. Venture Capital
TPL serves as a development organization for ventures that require engineering capital rather than Venture Capital. Our engagement process involves the same kind of analysis and due diligence you would find at early stage Venture Capital firms; in fact, we maintain US staff for this. We partner with a company or a group of founders only after we have vetted them and their business model. This makes it possible for a much stronger partnership than outsourced development usually provides: TPL is typically intimately involved in defining technical strategy, building and running development teams, and scaling up the resulting products. We practice Agile Processes that integrate tightly with business owners, and specialize in rapid application development on Web 2.0 technologies. And we thrive on business critical, make or break projects.
