Our Customers
We practice highly collaborative Agile processes, specialize in rapid and “ready for production” Web 2.0 development, and thrive on business critical, make or break projects. This blends especially well with startups and SMEs in competitive markets, but can apply to any organization building new applications. While our primary business is building and scaling internet startups, we also work with established companies, run distributed development with other Agile development firms, and also work with NGOs and non profits.
Our typical customers are at the pre-alpha stage (a business model and a dream…yes our customers have business models). We typically work directly with founders, and are very comfortable providing technical strategy direction to founder teams without a CTO. Our experienced architects, working from a pitch, a hook, and a business model, work with founders to define the initial product, build the development team the project requires, and kick off the Agile development process that will lead to the fastest launch and most adaptable product possible.
While there’s a lot of excitement in building new ideas from scratch, the real challenge for startups is surviving while constantly improving. For startups struggling to manage burn while expanding functionality, we have a custom process based on Agile methods for bringing our teams up to speed quickly to augment an exisitng in-house team and scale economically. The fast-moving startup building version 2.0 on an increasingly shaky 1.0 foundation can shift the refactoring and re-architecting of back-end systems to us, freeing in-house resources to focus on make or break issues. The established startup with a wish list of products and features can use our lab to rapidly test a new idea with low risk, or build a custom offshore development lab to permanently move development tasks out of the highest cost market.
Partnering with Agile Development Firms
TPL has arrangements with other Agile development shops around the world providing offshore resources and scale to their dev organizations. This kind of partnership is a one-off every time; even with Agile processes in common, it winds up being very customized to the teams and their projects. On top of that, really integrating distributed teams requires a strategic purpose, strong leadership from both sides, and tender loving care from everyone involved.
If you’re interested in partnering with an offshore agile team, contact us. We’re in a heavy recruitment and expansion phase right now, primarily to answer demand for this kind of engagements.
NGOs and Non Profit Organizations
TPL does consulting work for non profits and NGOs, especially ones operating in Southeast Asia. Usually this takes the form of consulting with groups on how they can play in the web 2.0 world, and followup development projects to take advantage of the opportunities we find. Occasionally we get much more involved, especially with development oriented and social entrepreneurship projects.
