Our People

We believe that the most important factor in writing great software is having great people working on it. The best way to learn is with other smart, motivated people learning with you. And the best way to get things done as a team is to trust the people around you. In short, smart people who work well together can solve almost any problem in the world.

This is good, because we like to go after especially interesting problems. TPL does custom development for startups, and we look for the ones with new ideas and interesting challenges. We don’t take contracts that merely require repetitive low-value tasks, the traditional realm of outsourced development. Our jobs involve real innovation and demand teamwork, honest communication with each other and our clients, and very creative solutions.

Working at TPL – Agile software development

We believe strongly in hiring great people, and in working in the most effective ways we can. Across the world, many of the best software development teams are adopting Agile methodologies, and it has been proven time after time to be a faster, smarter, and more fun style of development. All of our teams use Scrum along with other key agile and XP programming practices. For developers this means:

• more time writing working code
• less time writing large documents that will only be read once
• more time working directly with your (very smart) teammates
• more time understanding your customer’s business so that you can design the right solutions
• constantly improving everything: yourself, your team, and the Agile processes themselves

There is never a ‘perfect’ process, but our teams are able to use Agile ideas and adapt them to each new group of people and each new project. We measure ourselves, review our work, and improve over time until we find that we are very very good at what we do.

In addition to our processes, we try to use the best tools available and create a great work environment. All of our engineers have their own desks with dual core PCs, 2 monitors, and plenty of RAM. Free drinks, coffee, and tea are standard, and our offices are, if we do say so ourselves, beautiful. We work out of a beautifully renovated villa in Q. Tan Binh.

We strive to create a great environment for working and learning, and want to make sure that people don’t need to quit to try to find the salary they deserve. Everyone does well, and salaries are adjusted for cost of living as well as raises for experience and promotions.
